World Record Fluke Caught

Monica Oswald of Neptune, NJ boated this monster fluke yesterday fishing just south of the Shrewsbury Rocks. This monster fluke weighed in at 24.3 lbs and measures 38.25 inches according to Scott’s Bait and Tackle. The previous record of 22lbs 7oz was caught off Montauk, NY back in 1975. The previous NJ record was 19.12 lbs all the way back in 1953. Monica was fishing in about 55 feet of water using a Spro jig tipped with a squid strip.

This isn’t the first time Monica has hooked into an exceptional fish. Last year she landed an 18.1 lb weakfish.
