May 2nd AM: The first charter of the 2008 season was with our good friends from the Miller& Chitty Co. from Kenilworth. These guys are regulars on the Capt. Dave. Ken from the group called and said “you guys get better every year.” There was action all day battling nice sized blues and one smaller striper. The pool winner of this charter was Ken Stamton. Thanks for the kind words Ken – your group is always welcome aboard the CAPT. DAVE.
May 2nd PM: Next up was the Hugh Milmoe party from Baltimore. Despite a poor weather forecast, this group drove all the way up from Maryland. Alas, as usual the weather man was wrong, and this group had a great afternoon. The action was hot with big blues and stripers on the menu. Rob Finkle from Baltimore took the pool with a nice striper and Jen Adkins was the runner up with another nice bass. These guys were a really nice group, and we hope too see them again!
May 3rd: The Rodney Grew party from Franklin Park. These folks wanted to get in on the hot ling action on the Scotland Grounds, but Mother Nature would have none of that. With 30 mph NE winds, offshore fishing was out of the question, but these guys wanted to get us out for some action, so we took a ride to the Back Bay and setup for some blues and bass. The stripers and battle-ready bluefish cooperated giving this group action most of the day with a dozen bass and lots of yellow-eyed demons. Keraya Jefferson won the pool with biggest fish – nice going Keraya! One of the group members, Izzy, sent Dave an e-mail thanking the crew for a great day. Thanks Izzy – we try hard and appreciate the kind words!
May 4th AM: The Hillsborough PBA, headed by Chris Engelhardt. A ride to the Back Bay for some action for this group was in order. A few drops brought good action all day long with blues and some bass coming over the rail. A nice group of guys, they’re welcome aboard the CAPT DAVE anytime. Chris Englehardt took the pool with the biggest blue – nice fish Chris! We’re looking forward to fishing with this group again for Fluke
May 4th PM: The Rick Gardener party from East Windsor. Capt Kevin took the wheel for this group and read a school of blues. After anchoring-up and giving the order to the crew to chum heavily, the fish started to bite. Good sized blues started to come over the rail and the battle began. Nine-year-old Conner Graeff of Middletown took top honors on this trip. Connor, you have bragging rites till the next charter! These folks were very nice people, and all good fishermen.
May 5th: The Mike Kotarski from Parsippany. These folks are friends of deckhand Glen, so the pressure was on. Several stops in the back bay produced some good action. Although the striper gods were not with us on this day, the blues provided steady battle throughout. A great group of fisherman, they’re all welcome aboard the CAPT. DAVE any time. A tie for the pool on this trip was split between Don Wheeler and Bob Laird. Congratulations guys, nice going!
Thanks again for your generous gratuities, we’re always happy to be out on the water with you and we’re looking forward to seeing you all this season!
Best wishes,
Brett Chamberlain
