The fluke fishing is holding up pretty well. Sunday, the 27th. we had out the Chris Wagner charter for a day of fluking with the kids. We were fishing deep water, about 40′ to 45′ with mixed results. Plenty of shorts and a keeper or two mixed in. I decided to go completely the other way, to shallow water, and away from the crowds. And it paid off big ! Chris’s son, Justin, age 8, landed the largest fluke of his career. It was over 4 lbs.! A few more drifts produced another 4 lbr. for Chris himself. Mixed in with the other keepers of the day and the near miss shorts, it turned out pretty well. Congratulations, Justin !! The 4lb. fluke were caught in only 10′ of water!! Quite a change of 45′. Who would have thought it with the water temp. in the bay at times over 78 degrees !
This week Friday is open to charter and next week, Aug, 4, 6, 7, 10. Big bluefish are out there to chum up or we can go fluking. Hoping and waiting for the weakfish to show up.
It is never tooooo early to book for this fall’s striper fishing or even next spring. Yesterday, 2 more dates were booked for May 2009, leaving only about half the month left open. 908-472-2684
