Hello from the crew of the CAPT. DAVE,
Be sure to stop-by our website at http://www.CAPTDAVE.net
This week, most of our parties enjoyed fantastic bluefishing, battling one big blue after the next, and after an hour or so, playing catch and release ‘till their arms gave out. There are reports that fluke are being caught in the Ambrose channel when conditions are right. We are reluctant to work that area as it is a security zone and thus it is illegal to fish there. Reports on weakfish are spotty, and we have not yet tried in earnest for these fish. Any parties wanting to battle big blues – now is the time to book, so give us a call. Some AM weekdays are open, as is Friday the 17th PM and Sunday the 19th PM for the weekenders.
August 6th: A few days prior, Captain Dave received a call from Connie Sabo saying she needed to book a charter boat for her boss, Matt Mittron of Access Communications in Berkeley Heights, who is very demanding, so we obliged her request. Matt treated his clients right with plenty of food and snacks from Slater’s deli and off we went to the bluefish grounds. Another good day of fishing with remarks like: “this is the first charter that we have booked where we caught so many fish!” The star of the charter was young Robert DeLuca from Fairfield who fought slammer blues one after the next. Nice going Robert! Matt, Connie deserves an increase in salary. A nice group, they’re welcome aboard the CAPT DAVE any time.
Aug 7th: A long time customer and faithful reader of this email, Al B. from New Brunswick called and asked if we would take his family out to see what it was like to fight some big blues. Off we went to show Al’s family a good time. It was one fish after the next, and they all had a great time seeing these magnificent fish jumping and battling the anglers. Al took only some fish home to eat and released the rest. See you later in the month!
Aug 9th: Another repeat customer, the Moonachie/Montvale Police Dept. headed by Tom Schmitz. This crew also wanted to get into the bluefish action. On this charter, the fishing was a bit slower because of a wind against tide condition, but we still managed 18 choppers. A fun crowd, and all good fishermen, they’re always welcome on the CAPT DAVE.
Aug 11th: The Bridgewater Wholesales gang from Branchburg headed by Tim Sobiech. Another ride to the bluefish grounds with very good results: hot action all day long, and after an hour or so, catch and release was practiced. These guy’s had a great time with these fish. A nice group, they’re welcome back any time. The pool winner of this charter with the biggest blue was Tim Sobiech of Easton PA. Nice fish Tim!
Aug 12th: Another repeat customer, Sal from Maplewood. He wanted to book the CAPT DAVE for a birthday party for his good friend Matt Konopinski. Sal wanted another date, but due to a booking snafu we were unable to comply. We tried to book him another boat, but Sal would have none of that: “I want your boat and crew” was his reply, so we compromised and booked another date. Sal wanted to catch fish in calm waters for his gang, so we obliged his request. This party’s steadfast belief in the CAPT DAVE way was rewarded with the hottest fishing day of the week. As soon as the first line hit the water, a fish was on, then another and another. There were so many big fish, the crew could hardly keep up, and within 15 minutes we were practicing catch and release. Within an hour, the party said “great day Cap. – head back to the dock.” The birthday boy, Matt Konopinski took the pool. Congratulations Matt, and happy 30th birthday! It was a day to remember, thanks to Sal.
Aug 12th: Chia Li’s family and friends from Homedale. Chia, a reader of this Email, was happy to me, and I too of him. Capt Kevin took this party to the area adjacent to the TC buoy, and they were rewarded with a nice pick of fluke to 22-inches. The pool winner of this charter was Hawn with nice flattie, and honorable mention went toTai with an 8-pound bluefish. A nice family, they are welcome back aboard the CAPT DAVE any time. Thanks Chia!
Thanks again for your generous gratuities, we’re always happy to be out on the water with you, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all this season!
Best wishes,
Brett Chamberlain
