Hello from the crew of the CAPT. DAVE,
Be sure to stop-by our website at http://www.CAPTDAVE.net
The unseasonable weather still prevails. The record or near-record high temperatures have made it difficult for the water to cool down. The harbor and the bay, however, are loaded with bait, so once the water temperature drops, everything will be in place for a productive fall bass run.
Oct 20th: Capt Dave cancelled both the AM & PM charters due to high winds and small craft warnings. In Dave’s opinion, the vessel involved in the incident in the Ambrose channel had no business being out that night. On occasion we cancel charters when poor conditions prevail. While Dave understands that it causes a hardship for some of his clients, it is his belief that a charter should be a good time, not the deadliest catch. No fish is worth a risking a human life. Dave thanks you for understanding his conservative policies.
Oct 21st: The D&L paving Co. from Nutley, headed by Joe Matarzzo. This party wanted a weakfish or bass charter, but with none available, they settled for a try for blues. Loaded with cut bunker and chum, off to the bluefish grounds they went. Several drops produced only a pick of blues and dogfish. The skilful angler who took top honors on this trip was Roberto Salasar from Passaic who managed an 8-pound blue. Joe made this charter an event for his gang with plenty of good food, prizes and parting gifts for the whole crew. Thanks Joe, we’re looking forward to fishing with your crew again.
Thanks again for your generous gratuities, we’re always happy to be out on the water with you and we’re looking forward to seeing you all this season!
Best wishes,
Brett Chamberlain
