Hello from the crew of the CAPT. DAVE,

The weakfish have finally arrived! The Reach channel has a concentration of fish in one area, which has an armada of boats fishing for them. Competition for these fish is high, so we suggest a weekday charter when there are fewer boats chasing after them. Most of this weeks charters were for blues with everyone catching fish – some days more than others – but all have caught fish in the eight to ten-pound range.
Sept 13th: The KLM Mechanical Contractors group, repeat customers aboard the CAPT DAVE. Keith wanted some action for this party, so we obliged his request and took the charter bluefishing. A steady pick of hard fighting blues was the result. Steven Shuler took the pool with an eight-plus-pound fish. Nice going Steve!
Sept 14th: Another repeat customer, the gang from Miller & Chitty from Kenilworth. These guys are always into action, so another trip to the bluefish ground was in order. The result was another steady pick of blues. Paul Gayada from Brick took the pool with a fish in the 10-pound range. This group is always a lot of fun, with jokes and friendly competition all day long. We’re looking forward to taking them for stripers in the fall!
Sept 15th: First time customers, the group from Rockefeller Technologies out of NY. With a forecast of poor weather and high winds, we decided to fish the bay. Chumming heavily, we were able to give this party action all day with a solid catch of blues. A tie for the pool was between Jerry Zygmunt and Jahmal Williams, both from Brooklyn with big blues. This charter lauded the crew of the CAPT DAVE, saying it was the best trip they ever had, and that we could use them as a reference anytime. Thanks guys, we really appreciate it!
Sept 16th: The gang from Roche Diagnostics. This party did it up right with plenty of good food and refreshments for the day. Hearing of a weakfish bite in the Reach channel, we decided to give it a try. Upon arriving on the fishing grounds, there was already a large fleet of boats in the channel. There were so many boats that it looked like the scene from the movie Jaws. Shortly after, the USCG sent its cutter out to clear the channel so commercial traffic would not be impeded. In the interest of safety, we left the area and tried for action elsewhere. The result was a slow pick of fish. A nice group, and all good fishermen, we’ll welcome them back anytime.
Sept 16th PM: Another repeat customer, the Shariff Elfar family from Franklin Lakes. Capt. Kevin took this group to the weakfish grounds, but alas, the result was the same as the morning’s trip with a slow pick exacerbated by another heavy fleet of boats to contend with. Taking the pool was Shariff Elfar with a nice bluefish. A nice family, they’re welcome back anytime.
Thanks again for your generous gratuities, we’re always happy to be out on the water with you, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all this season!
Best wishes,
Brett Chamberlain
