Hello from the crew of the CAPT. DAVE,
Be sure to stop-by our website at http://www.CAPTDAVE.net
We will be running an open boat charter over the holiday weekend on Sunday, Sept 2nd. Our start time will be 8:00 AM and we will return at 12:00 Noon. The price will be $50.00 per guest. All bait and equipment will be included. So, if you are looking to go fishing with your family and friends this weekend, give Captain Dave a call at (732)-613-8307.
Heavy rains and strong winds put a damper on our catches this week. The salinity content dropped, the turbidity content was high, the prevailing wind direction and rough water made for a wind against tide situation, and when combined, these factors made for less than stellar fishing conditions. Even so, some nice fish were boated. Enjoy the up coming holiday weekend!
Aug 20th: Fred Mervine treated his crew from Lancaster Amish Direct to a day out on the water. Heavy rain and a 30-knot NE wind did not deter this hardy group from their day aboard the CAPT DAVE. It was a slow pick of fish due to the poor conditions. Dave Lapp from Birdinhand Pa. took the pool with a nice fluke. A nice group of gentlemen, these guys are welcome back any time.
Aug 21st: Cancelled due to heavy weather.
Aug 23rd: The Axis Inc. party from Somerville, headed by Jim McTernan, came out with us for the day. This party wanted a try for blues, so a ride to our favorite bluefish grounds was in order. At first, it looked as it was going to be a good day with some nice blues being taken, but then the bottom dropped out, and though we tried several more spots, we experienced poor results. The bay was still stirred-up from the stormy weather. The angler that won the pool on this charter was Don Gianetla from Hawthrone. Nice catch Don! A friendly crowd, we hope to see you guys again.
Aug 23rd PM: The Bridgeway Care Center from Bridgewater, headed by Wayne Blum. This group wanted a try for fluke. Several areas were fished for this gang, and we found a slow but decent pick of fish. Flor Florshofer took the pool with a nice sized fluke. We always say the women always out fish the men! Nice going Flor! A good crowd, they were all good fishermen, and we hope to see them again.
Aug 24th: Our good friends from M&M Mars came aboard the CAPT DAVE, and they, headed by TJ who loves to fish, wanted a try for fluke. The bay was still unsettled and the ocean still had a big swell, making for some poor fishing conditions. Still, this group managed a slow pick of fish. One of our favorite groups, we always a good time with these guys. Oh, and thanks for the samples - they will be enjoyed by all! See you again in the fall!
Aug 25th: Carl Leppin and fiends from Secaucus stopped by. Heavy fog greeted this group in the morning. Our first stop at the Bug Light produced a pick of fluke. As the fog lifted, we ventured down the beach but with poor results. A trip to the Ambrose channel and poor drift conditions resulted only in a pick. As the tide slowed, a try in the deep at the tip of the Hook resulted in some nice keepers. The pool winner on this charter was Bob Kulvich from Secaucus with a 21-inch fluke, and he really worked for this fish. All good fluke fishermen, they’re welcome back any time. See you guys again in the fall!
Aug 25th PM: The Brian Seeley charter from Blairstown. This party wanted a try for fluke. With conditions still unsettled, Capt Kevin took the group to some of his most productive spots. A pick of fluke for this gang, with a flurry of blues thrown in. A fun crowd, we hope to see this charter again.
Aug 26th: American Legion Post 43 Madison/Florham Park. A late start for this group, we fished several areas in the bay: the Reach Channel, the Bug Light, all the way back to Round Shoals, and back to the tip of the Hook, producing only a pick of fish. On top of the poor drift conditions, the full moon tide made conditions even tougher. Bill Pater fished hard all day, and was able to boat the pool fish. Nice going Bill, you have bragging rites till next charter! A fun crowd with nary a dull moment, they sure do love their orange juice!
Thanks again for your generous gratuities, we’re always happy to be out on the water with you, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all this season!
Best wishes,
Brett Chamberlain
