Hello from the crew of the CAPT. DAVE,

Where are all the striped bass? Several charters resulted in a pick of fish, but not the non-stop action we typically experience during the spring. The storms of last weekend were supposed to stir things up and cool the water down, but they only resulted in tough fishing conditions. Another drop in temperatures this week will hopefully turn the fish on. We will be booking charters ‘till the end of November.
Oct 31st: Our annual friends and family trip. It was a warm and sunny day for the end of October with calm winds. On board for this trip were George B. and friends, Anita M. and her daughter, Chris Dean, Glen and friends, Chief Warrant Officer Rick, and Capt Mick from the CRT. Armed with fresh clam and live eels, off to the Roamer Shoals area we went. Our first stop was on the NE corner of Roamer with no fish being taken. A change of bait to eels and a ride to the Tin Can Grounds was next. While the current was moving, the crew was able to pick some blues and one nice striper. Chris Dean was the skillful angler who boated the pool-winning bass. As Dave always says, the women always out-fish the men. Nice fish Chris, congratulations on your first bass!
Nov 1st: The Fujitec gang from NY elevators. These guys are regulars on the CAPT DAVE and fish with us several times a year. Eels were the bait of the day, and off to the Ambrose Channel we went. Several drifts in this area produced no fish. Next, a ride to the Sandy Hook Channel was in order, and a pick bass resulted. Chris Halco from Long Island took the pool on this charter with a nice bass. It’s always a great fun time fishing with these clients.
Nov 4th: The William Egan party from Lehighton Pa. Dave anticipated a good day of bassing because the storm Noel stirred the ocean up which usually turns on the bass. Several drops starting with Roamer Shoals, then to Round Shoals, the Keyport flats, and several drops on the Knoll, but no fish were taken. Finally, a drop on the incoming tide on the knoll produced a pick of bass on clams. A nice group, they’re all good fishermen, and we hope to see you guys again soon.
Thanks again for your generous gratuities, we’re always happy to be out on the water with you and we’re looking forward to seeing you all this season!
Best wishes,
Brett Chamberlain
